My husband snored so loudly it scared me at times. He asked his doctor what he could do to remedy and he simply told him to lose weight. He lost over 50 pounds and I can notify you it worked. He is a very silent sleeper!
Usually creating a clear nasal airway helps a lot. Those breathe-right strips work, or a nasal decongestant spray can work.
Long-term, though, it's better to train yourself never to sleep on your subsidise, where most snoring occurs. Using big sloppy stitches, create a huge pocket on the back of the PJs or shirt you sleep in. Put a tennis globe in it. Repeat as you change sleeping clothes.
It usually take less than two weeks to train yourself not to stay on your back for more than a moment. Remove the pockets, no injure done to your clothes.
